My People...

I have always had trouble with chitchat.  As a young adult, I thought there was something wrong with me, and occasionally I still doubt myself on this matter, but I have also come to know it simply as the way I am built.  Who I am.  As an introvert, I was unhappy at the big parties taking place when I was in my twenties, but I also felt isolated if I didn’t go.  I came to appreciate that two of my favorite authors, people whose reflections and writing changed my world, had both written about how much they hated going to parties.  These two authors, C.S. Lewis and Anne Lamott, enriched my life, my heart, and my understanding of both the world around me and of myself, by sharing what they had to say via the written word.  The kind of exchange of ideas that might happen for extroverts over a tasty beer in someone else’s living room.
